The gold award is the highest award a girl scout can earn. It is earned by Senior and Ambassador girl scouts (girls that are in high school). Only about 5.5% of girl scouts successfully receive their gold award. This prestigious award challenges you to change the world—starting in a corner of it. There are 7 steps to a gold award project:

1. Identify an Issue

2. Investigate it thoroughly

3. Get help and build your team

4. Create a plan

5. Present your plan to your girl scout council and gather feedback

6. Take action (Act!)

7. Educate and inspire!

The Gold Award helps girls make the world a better place.

I decided to do start, and complete my gold award project because I liked the idea of changing the world starting with one corner. I looked around my community for different problems, and realized that with all of the changes girls are going through from Elementary to Middle school they also lose the required P.E. class and recess. I realized this is one of the many causes of obesity in the United States and I wanted to address it. I decided to make a camp for girls where they can practice different exercises they could do on their own or in a group to build a healthy lifestyle that will not only help them now with eating and exercising in a healthy way but also help them maintain this lifestyle.
